Digestive Concerns/Mood Disorders
It may surprise you that I am talking about digestive concerns and brain issues at the same time.
However, digestive tract problems can lead to issues all over your body if it is not properly regulated and addressed.
Some examples of digestive issues that may have heard about are Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD); Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS); a microbiome imbalance; Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO); parasites; yeast overgrowth; gut hyperpermeability; acid reflux; gas and bloating; excessive belching; constipation; leaky gut and more…
Food sensitivities; chemical sensitivities; skin rashes; headaches; fatigue; problems with weight (trouble losing or gaining weight); and mood disorders may all be caused by issues related to your gastrointestinal system.
Our enteric nervous system has been called “our second brain” as it speaks directly to our brain. Just as anxiety and stress can lead to gastrointestinal upset, those with microbiome imbalances within the gut, or “leaky gut” may experience mood disorders, anxiety, and brain fog.
This cross-talk has opened exciting new fields of research and new ways of thinking about diseases.
If you are experiencing psychological issues or gastrointestinal issues, it is a good idea to set up an appointment to see me so that we can get to the root cause of your concerns. Treating the gut may resolve your anxiety, ADD, memory concerns and mood disorder.
